Education and the Performing Arts
The Nouveau théâtre experimental (NTE)
The Fondation de la Chenelière also believes in the benefits of the performing arts in education. Indeed, the performing arts encourage critical thinking and the ability to propose original solutions: recognizing, expressing, and transforming emotions through play, the body, and voice.
The Fondation has chosen theatre as an educational vehicle through annual support for the Nouveau théâtre expérimental (NTE).

The Nouveau théâtre expérimental was founded in 1979 by Robert Claing, Robert Gravel, Anne-Marie Provencher, and Jean-Pierre Ronfard.
The NTE has established itself on the Quebec theatre scene as a theatre of creation, a space for unusual experiments.
In 1999, Alexis Martin joined as co-director, followed by Daniel Brière in 2003. The Nouveau théâtre expérimental, a unique space for invention and freedom, is a model that inspires many creators.
At the Festival international de littérature (FIL)
The Fondation de la Chenelière has also chosen to support the FIL every year since 2015.
The Festival international de littérature is a fabulous educational tool for young people and adults, offering a chance to see and hear literature, often through the presence of authors, the performance of texts, and direct interaction with the public.
The FIL
Since its creation in 1994, the Festival international de littérature (FIL) has strived to be a living library. Over 5,000 writers and artists from all disciplines, generations, and backgrounds have participated over the years in more than 1,000 events, allowing some 300,000 literary festivalgoers to rediscover well-known authors and discover new ones in constantly reinvented, bold, and original formats.
