The publishing house&#8217;s offices were located at the corner of Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Mozart Street.<\/p><p>Cheneli\u00e8re \u00c9ducation, a publisher of school and university textbooks called Little Italy home for over 20 years, and it\u2019s more than 200 employees participated fully in the life of the neighbourhood<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-625dc78 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"625dc78\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3141d2e e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"3141d2e\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2b99714 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2b99714\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Fondation&#8217;s original objective was very modest, consisting of providing a local school with the financial support to encourage and motivate students.<br \/>The Fondation was later able to provide regular support to four schools:<\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">Notre-Dame de la D\u00e9fense<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">Saint-Jean de la Croix<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">Saint-Ambroise<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">Saint-Ars\u00e8ne<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>At that time, the Fondation distributed over $250,000 thanks to the generous contributions of the publishing house, its employees, freelancers, and suppliers. Fundraising activities, such as garage sales, raffles, and shows, were also successful.<\/p><p>Since 2006, Cheneli\u00e8re \u00c9ducation has continued its publishing activities within the Transcontinental Books Group.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-479ba11 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"479ba11\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9a84fe7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"9a84fe7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Michel de la Cheneli\u00e8re, Founding President<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e10f450 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e10f450\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A leading figure in Quebec publishing and a philanthropist, Michel de la Cheneli\u00e8re is the founder of \u00c9ditions de la Cheneli\u00e8re, now known as Cheneli\u00e8re \u00c9ducation, a pioneering publisher of French-language textbooks for school and university students in North America.<\/p><p>Thanks to its founder&#8217;s keen business acumen and great passion, the company, founded in 1984, has become the largest French-language educational publisher in North America.<\/p><p>Since the sale of Cheneli\u00e8re \u00c9ducation, he has focused on his philanthropic activities. He is part of a new wave of philanthropists essential to the arts and culture community and supports the fields of education and the arts. A dedicated volunteer and enthusiastic ambassador, Michel de la Cheneli\u00e8re supports several cultural organizations and international educational initiatives.<\/p><p>In 2018, Michel de la Cheneli\u00e8re was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada. He is also a Knight of the National Order of Quebec (2017), the Order of Montreal (2017), and the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic (2017). He is the recipient of the Camille-Laurin Prize from the Office qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois de la langue fran\u00e7aise (2016) and the Canadian Museums Association\u2019s Award for Excellence in Philanthropy (2018).In 2012, he received the Business Volunteer Award (CCMM-CAM).
